What is Food Freedom?
Achieving "Food Freedom" is one of my main goals for all clients,
and the inspiration behind my business name! But, what is Food Freedom?
Food Freedom can be described as:
- Learning to enjoy foods without feeling controlled by them in terms of calories, health-quality or label ("good" or "bad", "feeling guilty for eating something", etc.)
- Understanding that all foods can fit into a healthy lifestyle, and your favorite ones don't need to be restricted
- Being present in the moment to enjoy friends, family and loved ones without wasting valuable energy and time thinking about food
- Loving life because you don't have to start another diet Monday
Food Freedom & Diet Culture
Diet culture has caused us to believe whatever BS it may be selling that day - low fat, high fat, no carb, no sugar, high fiber, low calorie - the list goes on.
It's presence is evident in magazines, television, and social media...but also in every day settings like our workspace, the gym, and conversations with friends or family. In fact, we pass on a lot of the damage from diet culture into our family dynamic, which is why it can be so hard to unlearn behaviors. Food Freedom allows us to heal our relationship with food, and escape the toxic cycle of yo-yo dieting, negative self talk and over-restriction so that we can live more happily and wholesomely. |
My philosophy on wellness is centered in treating every individual as a whole entity. This requires the ability to look beyond the clinical lens and understand each aspect of what makes us all human. It is essential to consider the well-being of our mental, physical, and emotional states and how their symbiotic relationship forms the network of our health. |
So, what does all of this mean for you?
1. I want you to know that I understand. I'm a real person, and I hear you. I've been in your shoes!
2. Your wellness journey will be specific to your goals, needs, time frame and personality. It is tailored to you! There is no one-size-fits-all plan. 3. My goal is for you to eventually be at a point where you don't need someone to constantly guide you. You will understand how to bring balance into your life, eat healthfully and have control - this is FOOD FREEDOM. I want you to learn the tools for your own growth, so you can work towards future goals. |
